Harmony of Connections

Barber’s Reincarnations and Kansas City composers

May 31 and June 1, 2025

What if we inspired humans to listen and feel the active connections required to create and sustain life as well as our world? Is there any more visceral manifestation of the bonds between our bodies, each other, and to the ideas that inspire and sustain us than choral music that captivatingly invites attention to the energy it takes to vibrate c(h)ords together in ways we can meaningfully feel? Through the use of choral music, poetry, space, multimedia, and sensory-heightened experiences, Harmony of Connections has been designed to explore the creation, maintenance, and loss of connection – featuring great American composers, Samuel Barber, Meredith Monk, and David Lang, as well as local Kansas City composers Geoffry Wilcken and a world premiered by Anthony J. Maglione.
